From March 20th to 21st, 2025, the groundbreaking meeting for the process package and engineering design of the 1,000-ton magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage material demonstration project of Funde Jinyu Changxing Island was successfully held. Leaders, experts and relevant personnel from Dalian Funde Jinyu New Energy Co., LTD., Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd. attended the meeting.
The design of the world's first 1,000-ton magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage material production line has been initiated
This two-day meeting successively included project introduction, discussion on the process flow and process package design, discussion on the second-generation process technology plan and the development of key equipment for the reactor, and discussion on the progress and plan of the feasibility study report compilation. This marked that the project officially entered the design stage and laid a solid foundation for the subsequent project construction.
The 1,000-ton magnesium-based solid hydrogen storage material production line of Funde Jinyu will be located on Changxing Island, Dalian, and the design work will be handled by Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., LTD. The project is based on the patented technology foundation of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is jointly carried out by Funde Jinyu, Yulin Institute of Clean Energy Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It adopts a "one-pot" continuous hydrogenation production process to truly achieve the safe and efficient production of magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage materials. And build a "dark factory" integrating continuous operation, automation, intelligence and scale. After the project is completed, it will inject strong impetus into the technological innovation of hydrogen storage and transportation in China, significantly enhance the global supply capacity of magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage materials, and promote the large-scale application of hydrogen energy.
The 100-ton magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage material production line of Funde Jinyu has been successfully started up
At the beginning of this year, the 100-ton magnesium hydride solid-state hydrogen storage material production line of Funde Jinyu was successfully started up in Yulin, Shaanxi Province. As China's first 100-ton magnesium hydride production line with independent intellectual property rights, the project has overcome the technical difficulties in large-scale preparation of magnesium-based hydrogen storage materials, achieving low-cost, efficient and digital production of magnesium hydride, and setting a new world record for production capacity of similar production lines.
